Rebekah Reidy is the founder of ”Fit for Fashion” and is a Certified Personal Trainer. She is currently pursuing her Master of Health Science in Nutrition & Dietetics.
I am often asked the question, “Why are you a trainer?” ”How did you get started?” And the answer is pretty simple: Because I want everyone to FEEL good about themselves. Even though I grew up dancing and playing sports, I ended up reaching my heaviest weight during my freshman year of college. I had very low self-esteem, never wanted to try anything new, and literally hated looking in the mirror. After a few friends encouraged me to join them in the gym, I became hooked. Fitness, not only made me lighter and look better in my clothes, but it significantly increased my self-esteem and I was not afraid to try new things from there on out. Now, forty-five pounds lighter, I have never been so energetic and full of life. It’s my passion to want to help others feel the same way about themselves. Weight holds us back – as women, we focus on those numbers seen on the scale. We have these pre-mediated ideas about what fitness is. We believe weights will “bulk” us up. ALL OF THIS IS UNTRUE. I decided to take my passion and turn it into serving others. We should all feel GREAT about our bodies. I think that if women especially, knew how powerful their bodies were and everything that their bodies are capable of – this world would be a greater place. I try to make exercise fun and every single session is different.
